Shoals Symphony To Perform At Una Spring Concert

FLORENCE, Ala. — Celebrating 30 years, the Shoals Symphony at the University of North Alabama will present "Jazz and America" during a concert May 5 at 7 p.m. in the Memorial Amphitheatre. The conductor for the symphony is Viljar P. Weimann. The concert will feature jazz trumpet soloist Ken Waters and special guests Swinging River Jazz. The program will include "An Outdoor Overture" by A. Copland, "Night in Mexico" by P. Creston, "Moon River" by H. Mancini, "An American in Paris" by G. Gershwin and other Jazz standards by trumpeter Ken Waters. In the event of bad weather, the Shoals Symphony event will be moved to Norton Auditorium. Tickets are $15 for adults and $5 for students. Children 12 and under will be admitted free of charge. Tickets are available at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for Arts or at the door the night of the event.
