FLORENCE, Ala. - Regular registration begins June 3 for the 2013 summer course sessions at the University of North Alabama.

The overall term is set for June 3-July 29. The first session of classes is scheduled for June 3-28. The second session takes place July 1-29.

Summer classes are particularly suited to students who find it difficult to meet the 16-hour-per-semester minimum required to graduate on a traditional four-year track.

"The university offers courses throughout the summer for students who want to close the gap between themselves and their graduation date," said Jerri Bullard, coordinator of the UNA summer schedule and chair of UNA's Department of Sociology and Family Studies.

"For young adults balancing activities and responsibilities, taking more than 12 hours per semester can be difficult," she added. "Summer classes are an option put in place to shorten the length of time it takes students to complete degrees."

In addition to students looking to accelerate their graduation date, summer courses appeal to entering freshmen as well as students enrolled in other colleges.

Summer courses are available at UNA in the months of June and July. Both in-classroom and online options are available.

Summer registration for either or both summer sessions will take place June 3-4. Students who wish to register for the second session only can also register July 1.
