University Of North Alabama Professor Receives Prestigious Oxford Fellowship

FLORENCE, Ala.-Dr. Michael Pretes, professor of geography at the University of North Alabama, is the 2019 recipient of the UNA College of Arts and Sciences Oxford Fellowship.
The fellowship will allow Pretes to spend one week in July 2019 at Oxford University in England. During that time, Pretes will serve as a member of the Summer Research Institute and will conduct research on the early historical geography of the Western United States using archives housed in Oxford University libraries.
The results of his work will then be presented to the UNA and Shoals communities in fall 2019.
